So, today Justin received the new Google G1 phone via Fed Ex, and was worthless the rest of the day.  The phone is pretty cool and has a lot of interesting features, but he spent the ENTIRE DAY playing around with it, while I ran the business.

One of the features Justin told me about is that the Google phone has the ability to scan the bar code of an item (such as a tv, candle, or bottle of lotion) and then give you several prices, from least expensive to most expensive, at various area stores and websites.  The Google phone will even give you directions to the nearest store with a better price if you want to make a purchase else where.

Another great feature is that the camera has a flash!!  The iphone used to take great quality pictures but didn’t have a flash to take pictures in low or no light.  The Blackberry Curve has a flash, but the photo quality is a little grainy.  The Google G1 has both: quality picture taking ability and a flash for low light.

I’m happy he has the new Google phone, which is very similar to (but better than) the Apple iphone.  He used to have an apple iphone, but sold it to “upgrade” to the Blackberry Curve, which matches mine;)

I’m glad to see that Barack Obama and Sarah Palin are finally getting along, and better than I ever expected.  Look at this photo taken just last week:

Louisville Power Outage

Posted by jonathan | In the News | Monday 15 September 2008 8:26 pm

Seventy-five percent of Louisvillians have now been without power for over 24 hours.  Early Sunday tropical storm force winds of 80+ miles per hour came crashing through Louisville, Kentucky bringing the city to a halt with a city-wide blackout.  The result of gulf coast hurricane Ike which made landfall in Texas Tuesday of this week.

City officials have been busy assessing the damage done by the unpredicted storm.  It seems the damage is quite extensive in almost every residential and business corridor.  Gas stations are without gas, traffic lights are malfunctioning, and stores are forced to close their doors, losing countless dollars while irritating customers city wide.  “Closed due to power outage” is becoming a commonplace sign seen in businesses around town.

Officials of LG&E (Louisville Gas and Electric), which supply power to the entire city of Louisville, expect the blackout to continue for the next 10-14 days!

Last night I, just as many other residents of Louisville, were forced to sit in the darkness of the blackout and ride out the aftermath.  No television or light of any sort from 8PM until 6AM…this is quite an adjustment to make.

Later in the week I will post images of the storm damage to my Mother’s house.  A 60 year old Oak tree, which belonged to a neighbor, smashed a fence along one side of her house.

Stay tuned for images and more information.
